Charlotte History Museum

Saturday the museum was hosting an American Indian celebration with music, dancing and crafts. Grace enjoyed the dancing and was not shy when they asked for volunteers. She went up by herself and danced with the group. She then made a bracelet, mask and pinch pots.

We toured the museum, and she liked the Chinese exhibit. The property houses the oldest house in Charlotte, built in 1742. It is a beautiful property with the museum building and then the old house, barn and kitchen outside.

Teeny Tiny Tales

Grace went to her first theater production today. We went to see a preschool play with singing and dancing at Imaginon in downtown Charlotte. The building has a few play areas, a library, as well as two stages. During the play, she sat right up front by herself with the other kids. She did seem scared sometimes, as she put her hands over her eyes. She was right at the stage, so I think it was a little frightening at first. She says she wants to go back.

The 5 Days of Halloween

Grace got to wear her costume everyday from Wednesday to Sunday (except Saturday). There were so many carnivals and trick or treats, she was excited. We only painted her face for Halloweens treating and for the treating Friday in downtown Mooresville. She loved her pace painted better than anything. She kept having to run and look at herself in the mirror.

She ate so much candy while at the car show on Saturday, that she was sick all night. She's only had a box of Nerds since. Dan and I are taking care of the candy for her.

Finally on Sunday morning, Grace got to carve the pumpkin. She drew the face she wanted, and I cut it out. She loved scooping out the inside and was very good at it.

Grace enjoyed coloring faces on her little pumpkins. She is ready to carve the big one too.

Pumpkin Field Trip

Nana and I joined Grace and her preschool class for a trip to the pumpkin farm. We were lucky that the weather was not wet, but it was still muddy from the rain the day before. Grace loves the mud. Grace and I have been to Patterson Farms a number of times, and it is always a good time. We came home with three small pumpkins and one large pumpkin for carving.
A children's museum opened about thirty minutes from us, so we took Nana for a visit. It was very crowded because it was opening weekend. But we at least got to see it. Grace had so many things to do. It is a really nice area designed for kids under 7.

The weekend before the big balloon festival, Grace looked out our front window and said " Mommy come look at the rainbow". We looked out our dining room window and saw this. We missed its landing but watched them deflate it and put it away in a truck. We were told the driver had landed in our neighborhood a few times in the past years. From the air, our neighborhood is open with no power lines. This picture was taken from our front porch. Pretty cool.
