Our First Houseguests
Grandma and Grandpa Whaley brought Grace and me back to NC and stayed a week. We worked on the house and played. The weather was cold and windy, so we didn't get out much. We just let Grace show us all of her new toys. Dan went to Buffalo Friday for Morgan's baptism, but Grace and I stayed home.
Visiting

Grace and I spent the week after her birthday in Dalton visiting grandparents and great-grandparents. We saw Mamaw Grace and Grandmother Maggie at their homes. Grace just had to play under Grandmother's swing. She eyed it the whole time we were in the house, and as we went to leave, she took off around the house. When I got to the back porch, she was already playing.

Playing in Her Room

Whenever Grace wants you to play with her in her room, she says " play in her room". She doesn't use I or me a lot. Mostly she uses "her" or "Grace". Or when she hurts herself, she says " pants hurt" or "socks hurt".
Here she is looking out her window, which is the perfect height. She is also showing her forward roll, where she stands with her head down then eventually rolls over to her side and claps for herself. Her new thing came from gymnastics where I hold her and rock her upside down. So whenever I mention gymnastics, she says "rock and roll!"
Almost 2!

Today we took Grace to the children's museum in the local mall. It is more of a small, two room play area, but it costs only $2.00 and keeps her busy for an hour. Dan and I took turns shopping while the other played.
After her nap, Grace helped to bake her birthday cake for dinner with Papa Jim and Grandma Char. She loved icing her cookie cutter pieces then eating them. She had to open presents before dinner and enjoyed everything she got. By bedtime, she was sugar crazed, but she went to sleep without making a sound.
