Pool's Open

We all went to Davidson for the "Art on the Green" festival. We looked at handmade goods and Grace danced to the music of the band. We had Ben and Jerry's ice cream then came home for a swim in the big pool.

80 Degree Warmth

It has been in the 80's for a few days, so we opened both swimming pools, little and big. After the kids' day, we went home to swim in the little pool and give the new flowers a big drink of water.

Discovery Place

The Discovery Place Children's Museum in Charlotte is planning to build a branch in Huntersville, about 20 minutes from us. Saturday, they held a free kids' day with bounce houses, crafts, animal demonstrations, an amusement plane ride and horse rides. Grace rode the planes twice, went in the bounce house for about 2 minutes and rode the horse. The line for the horses was about 30 minutes long, but she said she wanted to wait. She did wait very patiently the entire time. She wasn't scared of the horse, but whined about the huge helmet.
As we were leaving, we petted a few of the animals. She bravely petted the large snake, the bunny, then she petted the little snake and gave it a tight squeeze. Mommy screamed, the snake didn't seem to mind. Grace now says she "squished" the snake. We'll have to watch and make sure she doesn't befriend any snakes in our yard.

Sick Day Makeup

We spent Saturday at Fort Dobbs and their living history weekend. The fort was the site of battles during the French and Indian War, and no longer exists. During the weekend, the site held reenactments of daily life, as well as battles. I thought Grace would be scared of the riffles firing, but all she said was "It's really smokey". She enjoyed the homemade ice cream they had for sale.
After spending all of the time outside in the hideous pollen, we have all suffered with allergies. Grace missed her gym class on Monday because Mommy felt bad. We did a makeup on Wed., and Dan got the chance to join us. She loves gymnastics and wants to go every day.

Childhood Memories (for Mommy)

A little coloring in the homemade tent before nap time.

This is now how our living room looks. After a new paint job and accessorizing, I think we are now finished.
