Discovery Place

Of course, Grace enjoyed the water table the most.

Holiday Weekend

We are greeted by a visit from Kevin, Donna and Parker this weekend. Grace had been looking forward to seeing them for so long. The weather was rainy the whole time, but we still made to the Penske racing and to Charlotte for the children's museum.
One time while we were driving, Donna and I were in the rear of the car. Parker and Grace were in the backseat. Grace says, "Mama, are you back there?". I say "yes. " Then she says "Donna your hair is so pretty." Such a kind baby.

New Pool Deck

Today, we had a deck built for our pool. It is 12x12 with a bench on one side. We will stain it white/gray in a few weeks. As we were getting ready for dinner, Dan noticed 2 black snakes wrapped up together between the two trees next to our house. We moved our dinner into the house. The snakes stayed in the grass wrestling for a while, then slithered toward the tree. They then disappeared. We visited our neighbors across the road instead of going back in our yard.
Earlier in the day, someone came behind the fence on the right of way with the weed eater, then he sprayed a chemical on the weeds. We think that caused the snakes to come into the yard. The former owner told us we would get snakes in the trees. We can't stand this. We tried to tell Grace to run away from snakes if she sees them. When we asked, "What do you do if you see a snake?' she replies "Go away". We think this is what she plans to tell the snake if she sees one. We'll just let her handle it.

What's a holiday without cupcakes?

Today we went to the beach at the lake for a picnic. The day started gloomy and cold, but by noon it was warm and sunny. We played in the sand for a few hours. Grace chased lizards, saw snakes in the water and ran away from butterflies (such a weird sense of creatures). That evening Grandma Char and Papa came for dinner. Grace went to bed with a full belly of Chex Mix and cupcakes. She woke up three times during the night crying. I think she had a tummy ache. According to her, there was a spider in her bed.

Daddy are you pooping in your diaper?

For Mother's Day, I asked Dan to take Grace out Saturday so I could have some time alone at the house. She got a trip to Chick-fil-A and a scouting mission for a Mother's Day picnic to Lake Norman State Park (the water park as she now calls it). He could only get her to come home by telling her they had to go home to get her swimsuit. So she came home ready to swim. After a brief nap, she jumped in the 76 degree water, teeth chattering. She wore her suit with the styrofoam in the belly and her swimmies. She loved swimming by herself. Dan even got a "no Daddy" as he tried to catch her when she jumped off the ladder. She went in and out of her boat and swam around the pool by herself. As she was sitting in her boat, she looks at Dan and says, "Daddy are you pooping in your diaper?" "No, Grace are you," he says. "Yeah," was the reply. Such a little fibber.

Twins?

Most people think Grace looks more like her mom now instead of her dad. There are times, I'm not so sure. She definately has his since of humor. The other day he was changing her diaper and playing with her. He growled somewhat like a dog. She says "ARRR", I'm a pirate. So off the cuff, just like her dad.

Smiles are hard to come by

Grace smiles and laughs all the time, but we just can't get her to pose for a picture. She will say cheese as she looks at something else in the room. It is so hard to get a pretty picture of her now. We just want everyone to see how beautiful she really is.

Happy Birthday Dan!

Here is Daddy in his birthday present. You can take the man out of Buffalo, but you can't take Buffalo (Sabres) out of the man.
