Grace and I went with our neighbors, Shannon and her 3 year old, Lily, to the Catawba Science Center. Hickory is about 45 minutes away, and the girls talked and laughed the entire trip. They enjoyed the museum, but by the end were getting restless and tired. They liked the room with the tunnels and playhouse best. Grace petted a swimming turtle and put her hand in the water with the sharks and stingrays. At the end when the girls were tired, we made it into the "Swamp" area. I thought it was the coolest room, with the alligator, Bhurmese Python, bobcat, skunk, racoon and more, but Grace and Lily just wanted to run over the bridges and play in the dark. It was a little scary for them to be so crazy around these mean animals. We didn't let them stay in that area too long. Shannon and I were worn out...the girls didn't miss a beat.
We finally got to attend a birthday party for Madison. Grace's closet is entirely filled with clothes that once belonged to Madison. Dan came in Friday night and joined us for the party on Saturday. We then went back with Kevin, Donna and Parker to Kennesaw for the night. On Sunday we went swimming in the community pool, then left that afternoon for NC.
After Pigeon Forge, Grace and I traveled on to GA. We stayed for a week visiting family and playing the the kiddie pool at Grandma and Grandpa's house.
Above, Grace is with Mamaw Grace, Aunt Dot and Aunt Katherine. These are Grace's great-grandmother and her two great-great aunts.
For a week, we told Grace we were going to a hotel with an on-site waterpark in Pigeon Forge. Of course, she didnt't understand that Pigeon Forge is a town. She couldn't wait to get there after Parker left. She kept asking "Where is Pigeon Forge?"
We arrived on Wed. night and stayed until Saturday afternoon. Grandma and Grandpa Whaley joined us in our room, and we had a blast. Grace loved the swings and teeter totter in the kiddie park and wanted so bad to surf on the simulated surf area. She still says, "Daddy is being lazy on the lazy river" and waits for the big bucket to drop water.
