Grace went to an ice skating rink for the first time Saturday night. The Charlotte Sports Center held a Family Night, where kids could skate, play in the bounce houses and play soccer and hockey on the indoor fields. Grace went right to bouncing first thing. We finally got her to skate, but she really didn't want to. She wanted Dan to hold her and skate fast. She did make a lap or two around by herself in her own skates. They didn't have small enough ones for her feet.

This was the opening weekend for the Renaissance Festival and tickets were buy one get one. It was cold and wet when we went last year, so I thought we should brave the traffic and enjoy the sunny, hot day outside. The traffic was much worse than I thought, and it took us an hour to travel about 3 miles. It was crowded when we arrived, but we still have a good time. Grace is all about the rides. You would think she would be more interested in the costumed characters and neat buildings, but she paid little attention to them. She did sit long enough to watch a joust and a few minutes on a bird show. At the end, she had to have a caramel apple with sprinkles. So she sat and listened to a harp player for 30 minutes until she had eaten the entire, huge apple. She did not want to share and we couldn't get it away from her until she was finished.

Daddy's Home

The grandparents visited for a few days while Dan was away for work. Sunday, Grace, Grandma and I went to Touch a Truck, a cancer research fundraiser. There were over 50 vehicles for the children to play in, including a bulldozer that Grace is driving in the picture. She loved the fun bus but was most interested in the bounce houses, balloon animals and tatoos. Along with her tatoo she got red color in her hair. It really didnt show up, but she loved it.

When we were leaving, she became interested in a stock car that was being loaded. She sat and watched that for 10 minutes. Very boring to me, but she didn't want to leave.

Dr Oddy at your service

Today was community helpers day at preschool. The school was visited by a fire truck and Grace made a doctor bag to bring home. Here she is cleaning Babe's boo boo before putting in a bandage.
